Every platform crops and compresses images differently. Uploading at the right size means your picture is shown the way you intended - not cut off, stretched or blurred.

How to resize for social media

  1. Crop to the right ratio first (1:1, 4:5, 9:16 or 16:9) so nothing important is cut off.
  2. Resize to the exact size - Instagram, Facebook and YouTube sizes are built-in presets.
  3. Save as a high-quality JPG. For graphics with text, PNG often stays sharper after the platform recompresses it.

Keep text and faces away from the edges: profile pictures are shown as circles and covers are cropped differently on phones and desktops.
