What is an EPS file?
EPS (Encapsulated PostScript) is a graphics format from Adobe used for decades in professional printing, logos and stock illustrations. It can hold vector artwork, images and text, ready for high-end printers.
EPS has largely been replaced by PDF and SVG, but print shops, sign makers and older logo packages still use it.
How to open an EPS file
Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop open EPS files; on a Mac, Preview converts them to PDF for viewing. Inkscape (free) imports many EPS files. Converting to PNG, JPG or SVG makes the artwork usable anywhere.
